ABOUT

I was born and raised in Madison, WI.
In 2001, I completed a welding diploma at Madison Area Technical College with the intention to use the skill for artistic purposes. Since 2003 I have been working as a public artist and fabricator in Tucson, AZ. I cultivated myself as an artist within the nonprofit sector, best known for my creative use of recycled materials. I built my experience working with schools, neighborhoods, non-profits and municipalities to create works of art in and with the community. These relationships continue to help me navigate the different stakeholders and personalities that are inherently involved in public projects.

I believe public art is not a solitary artistic pursuit, I think of it as my job as a public artist to take the ideas and passions of others in order to design a cohesive piece for their community.

I have a fabrication shop in Tucson with much of the equipment needed to do large scale structural builds. Keeping much of the fabrication in-house allows me stretch the budget of the project and manage quality control.

I strive to create pieces that are essentially maintenance free. I feel a responsibility to use materials that will stand up to weather, vandalism and time. I enjoy working with recycled and sustainable materials when available and appropriate but I always work with materials that provide longevity and durability.
